A Tiger In The Zoo Summary

A Tiger In The Zoo Summary is a very simple one. The poem contrasts a tiger in the zoo with the tiger in its natural habitat. In its description of the two tigers, the poem moves the zoo to the jungle, and back again' to the zoo. Stanzas 1, 4 and 5 describe the tiger in the cage inside the zoo while the remaining stanzas 2 and 3 describe it in its natural habitat, the forest. In stanza 1 the words 'stalks', vivid stripes, 'velvet, 'quite rage bring to the mind vivid images about the appearance, and mental state of the tiger in confinement and its useless anger, the tiger's state in its confinement. The image of the patrolling car very sight is terrifying. In contrast stanzas 2 and 3 describe the tiger's life while it fangs' 'claws' 'terrorising the village' are some of the expressions that provide a clear picture of the tiger in its natural habitat. The tiger, a free animal, ferocious by nature is kept confined that is its birthright and that has been curtailed.
