Gandhiji, popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi, is a household name to the people of India. He is also known as Bapuji', the Father of the Nation. He was an Indian lawyer, a political ethicist, and an anti-colonial nationalist. He struggled for India's independence and exhibited the nonviolent movement against British Rule. He inspired movements for civil rights and freedom all over the world.

After his initial studies in India, he went to England to study law. Gandhiji first practiced law in Bombay High Court. But he was not very successful. He then went to South Africa. There he fought for the Civil rights of the Black and the Indian population. He was successful in his struggle and was able to secure a number of rights for the non-White people. Gandhiji came back to India in 1915.
